The 2008 Lighthouse & Lightship Activity Weekend

The International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend is an annual event when the public can visit lighthouses. Some of them are also manned by radio amateurs. This year on 15-17 August we, Leif SM7EQX, Bengt SM7FCU, Johnny SM7UCZ and Kjell SM0FOB, visited the small lighthouse Utlängan in the Karlskrona archipelago in southeastern Sweden. There we set up our antennas and radios and become "radioactive" with the call SK7FK/LT. SK7FK is the call of Karlskrona Radio Club KRK.

Bengt SM7FCU operates his CW QRP station standing on his knees!

This is Johnny SM7UCZ´s nice radio hut close to the beach. The antenna is a horizontal 80 m long loop on bamboo poles for the HF bands. In front of him stands Leif SM7EQX.

In total we had about 75 CW QRP QSOs and about 25 SSB QSOs from Utlangan. This was the first time the Utlangan lighthouse SWE-406 was activated by radio amateurs. Here you can watch more photos and also videos from the event
