The spring is far away in northern Sweden. It is snowing a lot in Sävast since yesterday evening. Here is a short video.

Boden Fortress - A long time secret place in Sweden

During the first world war the secret Boden Fortress was completed with its five very huge forts blasted into mountains surrounding Boden city in northern Sweden. They all were abunded as late as in 1998. The Rödberget fort is now a major tourist attraction in Boden. Björn, SM0YUZ knows a lot of these places and he took me on a guided tour to some of them. Many photos can be seen here (sorry text in Swedish) and here you can read the fascinating story of Boden Fortress. Björn, SM0YUZ standing in front of the huge Stora Åberget fort. The ugly Radiobunkern in Boden Fortress is a historical site as it was from here in 1921 the first public broadcast programmes in Sweden were transmitted. Link to an article in a Swedish newspaper.

The Mizuho MX-7S QRP SSB/CW transceiver

When visiting ham radio flea markets it happens that I found items that "might be useful somtime". This time in Nykvarn I definitevely found such an item. Little money for a Mizuho MX-7S QRP SSB/CW transceiver was irrestisibly. The transceiver in mint condition was sold by Rolf, SM0LJF. It covers 7.000 7.050 MHz and the output power is 2 W. Rolf has replaced the battery holder with an electronic CW keyer.

Receiving Japan on 50 MHz

On June 22, 2018 06:39 UTC SM2EKM (in KP05uw) was heard by JA6JWJ calling CQDX on 50.099 MHz. I live nearby (KP05vs) SM2EKM and in the video clip you can se the announcement on DX.Heat.com and hear him calling CQ. I could not hear any JA station. My receiving antenna is a military surplus vertical antenna 30-60 MHz. Receiver is the Icom IC-7610 transceiver. Received JA-stations with WSJT FT8 software. Interface IC-7610 loudspeaker >>> PC microphone.
